There are other clients that say, "I do not wish to pay money to have you come at your price and pick up my clutter." All right, then from day one, let's agree that when I arrive, your house will be in this condition. You need to have that conversation because if you're showing up now, and the house keeps getting messier and messier, either the nanny needs to pick up the toys, or the homeowner needs to pick up the toys, or the child whose toys they belong to need to get the toys.
I don't actually care who it is, because unless they have actually contracted you to get the mess, then that has to be a conversation that you have with the resident, since no one is paying you today to get the mess, and you have another home to clean when you're done here. Despite the fact that you're not charging by the hour, you're still working by the hour, since we just have many hours in a day. No matter what you're doing, you're in essence working by the hour, because you're investing some of your time in order to do that task. If you have two or three homes in a day, whether you admit it or not, it's on a timed schedule.
When the time for that house is up, you can't keep staying and cleaning, since then you lose revenues go visit from the next home you're expected to go clean. When I bid the job, your house was in this condition, and now that I've arrived, every time there's more and more mess.
I did not budget the clutter time into the task and the rate that I provided you. Would you like me to charge you more money and take time far from another homeowner so that I can expand your window of time, or would you like to get the clutter before I show up?"
Now, a great deal of people when you provide the choice, they don't want to pay the money, since home maid service is not always a low cost, and they can inexpensively get their own toys, or teach their kids to put things away after they're done. I've seen extremely, extremely tiny kids that are trained to put their toys away when they're done playing.
